Back from Frankfurt

Posted in Journal at 10:28 pm by Jenn

It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve posted and I guess compared to my usual posting pattern it has been a while!

Scott had a conference in Germany and I (looking for any opportunity to get out of Baku) tagged along. My parents joined us in Frankfurt for the week and we had a great time checking out the city, geocaching, revisiting the old neighborhood and just hanging out.

My parents look great! It’s hard to believe that it had been just shy of a year since I’d seen them. My dad is having some problems with his knee so all the walking was a bit much for him, but he hung in there like a trooper (which isn’t hard to do when hanging out involves German beer and brauts)!

If you’ve never been to Germany you are missing a beautiful country. Not only is it beautiful, but it is SO EASY to get around and see things. They have a wonderful, clean, public transportation system and getting from A to B is as simple as knowing where the bus stop is. Now don’t get me wrong, they have their share of graffiti, litter and drug use but they also have GREEN grass, blue sky, clean air and FLOWERS! We slept with the window open most nights and just enjoyed being able to breathe, that’s something we can’t do here in Baku because of the noise and pollution.

On this visit I saw Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Wiesbaden (where I was born). I’ve decided that it is probably easiest to blog about each city rather than try to squeeze everything in to one blog. I’ll post a few pictures from each area and if you want to see more you can email me for access to the web album.
