Feel Your Boobies!

Posted in Journal tagged , , , at 11:44 pm by Jenn

That’s right!  Feel them.  Of course there’s a time and a place for everything.  I recommend that if you are at work you wait until you are in the privacy of your own home otherwise you might find yourself unable to find a partner for lunch.  Or on the otherhand may find yourself with more lunch invitations than you’ve ever had before depending on what type of coworkers you have!

Seriously, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this is my public service announcement.  This is also hopefully a wake up call to some of you that just because you aren’t over 40, or don’t have a family history you can still get breast cancer.  In fact 70% of breast cancer patients have NO FAMILY HISTORY!

In 2008 it is estimated that over 250,000 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer.  My friend Kim is one of these women.  Thankfully Kim’s cancer is in very early stages and very treatable.  Basically Kim went to the Dr. because she was having breast pain.  She was referred for a mammogram….something showed up and they had been following it.  A recent biopsy came back malignant.

This can happen to ANYONE of us.  Cancer has no prejudices.  It doesn’t care if you are black, white, asian or hispanic.  It doesn’t care if you are middle class, rich or poor.  So please do yourself a favor and talk to your doctor about a mammogram if you haven’t already had yours this year.

Now go on, get out of here.  Go feel your boobies!
