Happy New Year~!

Posted in Journal tagged at 10:14 pm by Jenn

As I’m typing this I’m saying out loud for the first time “two thousand and ten”!  I can’t believe it’s 2010 already.  It seems like yesterday that I was toasting in 2000.

This was low key as far as New Year’s celebrations go.  My friend Michelle and I went to dinner at the local water hole and had pizza and wings for dinner (and I had a couple of Blue Moon’s).  We were back home by 9:00 and in a fierce Wii competition with my 7 year old nephew.  We bowled, Mario Carted and Dream Figure Skated.  At about 11:45 we stopped playing and switched over to Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark to watch the ball drop.   I think it’s time that America’s Oldest Teenager pass the torch…I’m just saying.

Friday was a lazy day spent sleeping and watching Season 8 of Friends.  Saturday was my knitting group meeting in Bowie.  I didn’t get a whole lot of knitting done, but I did manage to buy myself 2 knitting magazines both of which contained several patterns that I plan to knit in 2010.  I also found a great baby something for someone special AND a Russian cookbook in the bargain book section at Border’s.  My group time was cut shorter than it normally would have been.  The condition of the restroom was less than desireable.  Let’s just say it was kind of reminded me of a cross between a truckstop and a jiffy john.  There was no way I was even going to attempt to use the bathroom in there and that’s saying a lot after spending two years in Post Soviet Europe.  WTF?

Today I spent the day searching for the perfect yarn for my next sweater.  It’s the cover sweater on the Winter 2010 edition of Verena.  The name – Rapunzel.  LOVE IT.  I can tell that it is going to frustrate the hell out of me to knit this, but I haven’t been inspired to knit anything since finishing the Undulating Waves Scarf

for my mom’s Christmas gift (she cried by the way)(pattern link).  Seeing this sweater on the cover actually made me say “hmm I’d like to knit that”.  So I’m gonna.  I ordered yarn today in a red color very similar to the cover picture.  The colorway is Hollyberry and I’m going to do it in KnitPicks Wool of the Andes.  They have such great colors.  It was hard to choose, but the cover color called out to me so I tried to match it the best I could.  The other sweater in that issue that I really like is called Odette.  I didn’t purchase that yarn yet.  Probably going to wait for a great sale at Cloverhill or Crazy for Ewe for that purchase.

I’m going to be better about blogging in 2010.  I really miss it.  It served a great purpose while I was overseas as far as keeping me in touch with family and friends.  It was also great for introducing me to new friends and now I’m going to think of it as a way of keeping in touch with them and keeping them up to date with what’s going on in my world.  Probably not nearly as entertaining as it was while I was overseas, but I’m going to do my best.

And ladies, don’t forget a new season of the Bachelor starts tomorrow!  Jake is hot hot hot!
