The Birds!

Today I’m cleaning up my computer and uploading a LOT of pictures to my Web Albums for fear of losing them forever when/if my computer crashes.  I came across a few pictures and mini movie that I took at my parents house several years ago and they reminded me that before there was Oprah there was the 4:00 movie.

I can’t remember all the specifics whether it came on everyday, once a week or what, but I do remember two movies that used to scare the crap out of me!  The first one was in the Trilogy of Terror.  There was this little voodoo guy with a huge knife that comes to life, hacks his way out of a suitcase and proceeds to terrorize this poor woman inside her apartment.  Here’s a picture of the voodoo doll that to this day gives me the heebie jeebies!

The second movie was The Birds.  This one was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and it just really used to scare the shit out of me as a kid because I could really picture this happening.  There were so many birds around where my parents lived.

Anyway, one day at my parents house I had flashbacks to The Birds when I was sitting in my parents living room and heard a lot of noise outside.  I looked out the window toward the backyard and saw this

then I looked out the front door and saw this

and to the trees and saw this

I couldn’t believe how many birds there were or how LOUD they were.  That’s when against my better judgement I made this video.

I was SO SCARED when I was taking this I couldn’t even believe that I managed to stay out there for one full minute.  I was TERRIFIED!

Major Bummer!

Today I learned that the date November 21, 2008 will no longer hold special meaning for me.  No longer will I wait for this date to arrive.  I just can’t believe this is happening to me.  Don’t they know that I had already begun my preparations?  This just confirms that the execs at Warner Brothers care nothing about me, my feelings and my knitting queue!  Can you believe it?

Sorry, I was rambling, but I just read that the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince has been pushed backto JULY 17, 2009!  NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

They just can simply NOT do this.  Knitters will revolt.  Do you realize how many hats, scarves, sweaters and socks have been made in preparation for November 21, 2008?  Do they realize that I have been watching Harry Potter movies in Russian as practice for the big day (when I would likely be sitting in a theater in Azerbaijan, watching the movie in Russian, with Azeri subtitles).  DO THEY CARE?  Nope!  They didn’t even ask me.

Anyway, that’s the news.  Now I have to start planning a Potter themed wardrobe for July 17, 2009.  Hell, I don’t even know what country I’ll be living in then.  Maybe I will still be able to wear that scarf, and socks afterall! (Did I just type that outloud?….shit, I probably just jinxed myself!)

Iron Man

Posted in Journal tagged , , at 9:59 pm by Jenn

I went to the movies tonight (alone of course as my husband has no taste in movies and opted to stay at the hotel).   There are actually several movies that I want to see right now…Indiana Jones, Fools Gold, Horton, What Happens in Vegas and Iron Man.  I opted for Iron Man tonight and think I’m going back to see Fool’s Gold tomorrow.

So Iron Man was good, but I was a little disappointed.  There was so much press saying how good the movie was and that it was the “best” comic book movie ever so I was ready for a much better show.  Don’t get me wrong, the movie was good, but not GREAT!  Robert Downey, Jr is almost unrecognizable as the Robert Downey Jr that I remember.  Gwenyth Paltrow is just ok, but definitely no award for this role.

The worst part of the whole movie was that I had to once again settle for popcorn with butter flavor and NO Milk Duds.  No wonder Europeans aren’t fat like us americans!

A few days ago a friend was debating whether or not to take her daughter with another mom (and her kids) to see this movie.  I’m so glad she decided not to go along with this other mom.  This movie is definitely rated appropriately.  PG – 13.
